چکیده

In this paper we study how to compute a dense depth map with panoramic field of view (e.g., 360 degrees) from multiperspective panoramas. A dense sequence of multiperspective panoramas is used for better accuracy and reduced ambiguity by taking advantage of significant data redundancy. To speed up the reconstruction, we derive an approximate epipolar plane image that is associated with the planar sweeping camera setup, and use one-dimensional window for efficient matching. To address the aperture problem introduced by one-dimensional window matching, we keep a set of possible depth candidates from matching scores. These candidates are then passed to a novel two-pass tensor voting scheme to select the optimal depth. By propagating the continuity and uniqueness constraints noniteratively in the voting process, our method produces highquality reconstruction results even when significant occlusion is present. Experiments on challenging synthetic and real scenes demonstrate the effectiveness and efficacy of our method.

Panoramic 3D Reconstruction Using Rotating Camera with Planar Mirrors

In this paper, we propose a novel approach for obtaining 3D information of panoramic (360 degrees) environments. We design an image acquisition rig composed with a camera and two planar mirrors. The regular image captured by the camera is separated into uncontinuous three regions by the mirrors arranged in front of the camera. By rotating the rig about a vertical axis with a constant velocity, ...

Multiperspective panoramic depth imaging

In this chapter we present a stereo panoramic depth imaging system, which builds depth panoramas from multiperspective panoramas while using only one standard camera. The basic system is mosaic-based, which means that we use a single standard rotating camera and assemble the captured images in a multiperspective panoramic image. Due to a setoff of the camera’s optical center from the rotational...

Dense Labeling with User Interaction: an Example for Depth-Of-Field Simulation

This work presents a method to achieve dense labeling in a very simple and efficient way, faster and with more flexibility than related approaches. We use an initial superpixel graph and reformulate its constraints as a sparse linear system of equations, which is efficiently solved as a linear least squares problem. We demonstrate our approach with an interactive application for depth-of-field ...

Generating Near-Spherical Probabilistic Range Panoramas Using a Low-Cost, Single-Camera Catadioptric-Stereo Rig

We present a novel catadioptric-stereo rig consisting of a coaxially-aligned perspective camera and two spherical mirrors with distinct radii in a "folded" configuration. We recover a nearly-spherical dense depth panorama (360°x153°) by fusing depth-from-optical flow and stereo. We observe that for motion in a horizontal plane, optical flow and stereo generate nearly complementary distributions...

All-Around Depth from Small Motion with a Spherical Panoramic Camera

With the growing use of head-mounted displays for virtual reality (VR), generating 3D contents for these devices becomes an important topic in computer vision. For capturing full 360 degree panoramas in a single shot, the Spherical Panoramic Camera (SPC) are gaining in popularity. However, estimating depth from a SPC remains a challenging problem. In this paper, we propose a practical method th...
